I Tried To Find A Word Today, by Maitland
I tried to find a word today.
It would not come,
No matter how much I called for it.
It stayed, stubborn,
Stuck in the void between mind and page,
Until I gave up.
And then it found me,
In the middle of the night
It yelled at me
“Here I am!”
Until I got up
To write it down.
The words like to keep me on my toes.
